Dysport injections in NYC soften expression lines caused by repeated facial movement. Dysport is FDA-approved for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Dr. Rokhsar also uses neuromodulators for selected forehead creases, crow’s feet, bunny lines, neck bands, vertical lip lines, and other concerns when appropriate.

Dysport is an injectable botulinum toxin type A neuromodulator. It temporarily reduces activity in targeted muscles, allowing the skin above them to appear smoother. Your sensation remains unchanged. With balanced dosing, you can still show expression while looking less tense or tired.

A typical Dysport injection treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes. We cleanse the skin and cool it with ice before using very fine needles. Dr. Rokhsar watches you frown, smile, and raise your brows first. He then adjusts placement and dosing to your anatomy, muscle strength, and desired movement.

Dr. Cameron Rokhsar, MD, FAAD, FAACS, is double board-certified in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery. He is fellowship-trained in laser and Mohs surgery. For more than 20 years, he has treated cosmetic and medical skin concerns in New York City.

Dr. Rokhsar graduated from Harvard College and NYU School of Medicine. He completed dermatology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and fellowship training under Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he teaches dermatology residents.

Dr. Rokhsar has served as a physician trainer for Galderma, the company behind Dysport and Restylane. He has also trained physicians for Allergan and Merz. His work has appeared on Good Morning America, the Today Show, CBS News, FOX News, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal.

How Long Does Dysport Injections Last?

Patients receiving Dysport NYC treatment may notice initial softening within two to three days. The full effect usually develops over about two weeks. When dose and placement suit your anatomy, treated lines look smoother while surrounding facial movement remains balanced and natural.

Dysport results commonly last about three to five months. Duration differs based on muscle strength, dose, treatment area, metabolism, and prior treatments. Dysport units are specific to Dysport and are not interchangeable with Botox units. Repeat treatments are generally scheduled after the previous effect begins wearing off.

Results can include softer “11” lines, smoother forehead creases, less visible crow’s feet, and a more rested upper face. Some Dysport Manhattan patients schedule injections before weddings, photographs, meetings, or other events. Plan ahead because the final result takes about two weeks to develop.

Dysport Injections Downtime or Side Effects

There is little to no social downtime after Dysport injections in New York. Most patients return to work, meetings, or errands after leaving our Manhattan office. Small red marks, mild tenderness, swelling, or bruising can occur around an injection site and usually settle quickly.

Other temporary effects can include headache, facial discomfort, eyelid heaviness, nausea, or muscle weakness. Rare complications from botulinum toxin can be more serious. We review your health history, allergies, medications, prior neuromodulator treatments, and treatment goals before your injections.

After treatment, avoid rubbing or massaging the injected areas for 24 hours. We also advise skipping strenuous exercise and alcohol for the remainder of the day. Ice can reduce mild swelling. Dr. Rokhsar may give different instructions based on your injection areas and medical history.

Is Dysport different from Botox?

Dysport and Botox are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, but they are different products. Their units cannot be directly compared or converted. Dysport is FDA-approved cosmetically for moderate to severe glabellar lines. Dr. Rokhsar selects a neuromodulator based on your anatomy, prior response, treatment area, and desired facial movement.

Can Dysport be reversed?

No medication can immediately reverse Dysport after it has taken effect. The muscle-relaxing effect gradually fades as nerve signaling returns, usually over several months. If you develop unwanted asymmetry or another concern, Dr. Rokhsar can examine your facial movement and discuss whether observation or treatment of another muscle is appropriate.

Where can Dysport be injected?

For cosmetic treatment, Dysport is FDA-approved for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults under 65. Experienced physicians may also use neuromodulators off-label for areas such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, neck bands, and vertical lip lines. Injection sites depend on your anatomy and goals.

Can Dysport be used for lip injections?

Dysport can be placed around the upper lip for a lip flip or selected vertical lip lines. It does not add volume like a lip filler. Instead, small amounts relax specific muscles around the mouth. Careful dosing matters because these muscles also control speech, drinking, smiling, and other lip movements.

When can I exercise after Dysport?

We advise avoiding strenuous exercise for the remainder of your treatment day after Dysport injections. Normal light activities can usually resume right away. Do not rub or massage treated areas for 24 hours. Dr. Rokhsar may adjust your aftercare instructions based on the areas injected and your treatment plan.
