Dermatology Physician Assistant (NYC/Long Island)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

– College degree required.
– Minimum 1-year experience in a Dermatology office working as a physician assistant.
– Graduate of accredited P.A. program and current NCCPA certificate.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

– Possesses wide-ranging knowledge of skincare treatment and pathology.
– Experience with lasers and cosmetic treatments is preferred.
– Excellent communication skills.
– Good problem solving and analytical skills.
– Ability to work as a team member.
– Well-organized with attention to detail.
– Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
– Treats patients and co-workers with respect.
– Empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
– Ability to work well with physicians, anticipating their needs in regard to patient treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities

– Provide direct follow-up patient care, as a representative of the physician, while treating the patient in a style and manner developed and directed by the medical director/supervising physician.
– Evaluation and management services and procedures delivered by the physician assistant under the direction of the physician must be within the scope of each practitioner’s authorized practice as defined by state law.
– The physician assistant must deliver care in accordance with mutually agreed-upon guidelines that are developed by the physician and physician assistant and based on the physician’s delegatory style.
– The physician assistant will limit their involvement in the assessment and implementation of treatment as adjudged by the physician taking into consideration the complexity and acuity of the patient’s condition, and the training, experience, and preparation of the physician assistant.

Secondary Duties

– A physician assistant shall review with the supervising physician all delegated patient services on a regular basis, as well as mutually agreed-upon guidelines for practice.
– A physician assistant shall clarify and familiarize all issues related to supervision methods and style of delegating patient care with the supervising physician. You will have the opportunity to learn from a world-renown laser surgeon who operates over 40 lasers in the practice.
– Other assigned tasks helping with website content, Q&A content and reviewing marketing materials as assigned by the medical director and the administrator.

Aesthetician (NYC/Long Island)

Responsible for the delivery of elective skin care services for our cosmetic patients, and working under the supervision of a Dermatologist. Proficiency expected in facials, microneedling, microdermabrasion, peels, and laser hair removal. The office operates over 40 lasers and light energy-based devices and the candidate will have an opportunity to be involved with these devices as well. The candidate will also have access to numerous in-house skincare lines. Other responsibilities include assisting as a medical assistant when there are no schedules or a slow period or when required, also patient education on treatment plans and medication. Ensures the patient is satisfied with elective skin care services and products recommended and continues to return to receive skincare treatment.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma; college degree preferred.
  • Two-years’ experience in a Dermatology/Plastic Surgery office working as an aesthetician.

  • Provides patients with complimentary consultations regarding skincare services.
  • Provides patients with instructions and educational materials that relate to their unique skin type and recommend adjustments to their skincare regiment as appropriate.
  • Determines patient skincare goals and objectives, and recommends products and services that can reasonably facilitate the attainment of those goals.
  • Seeks advice and supervision of a physician as required on treatment protocols and notifies the physician of any patient noncompliance.
  • Responsible for the coordination of any correspondence to patients regarding their skincare treatment plan, product usage, or home care instructions.
  • Maintains patient medical records detailing all treatment procedures, elective products, medication history, and educational materials received.

Medical Assistant (NYC/Long Island)

Looking for a motivated, well organized, responsible Medical Assistant with leadership qualities. You will have the opportunity to become the head medical assistant if your skills are proven through your work. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a cosmetically oriented practice with experience talking to patients about procedures like Botox, fillers, and lasers. A minimum of two years of experience working in dermatology and/or plastic surgery is preferred. Good communication skills are essential and must be capable of multitasking. Our practice uses Nextech electronic medical records and we are a paperless office so good computer skills and typing are a must. You will be a part of our state of the art offices and are expected to behave with the utmost professionalism with patients and staff members. Internships & Fellowships

Valuable Experience in the Field

New York Cosmetic, Skin & Laser Surgery Center is pleased to offer internships for marketing students & interns, medical assistants, and in general students who are interested in advancing their education or career in dermatology or dermatological research. Our staff has an in-depth and knowledgable understanding of the field and can provide training in the administrative aspects of healthcare management, marketing, and business development.

The educational training can last from several weeks to months over the summer. At this time, internship hours cannot count towards college credits. However, after completion, interns will be provided with a letter of recommendation based on their performance. The training and skill set provided will set interns up with an invaluable knowledge base and understanding of business strategy and administrative dermatology care.

Our practice currently provides a Cosmetic and Laser Fellowship to candidates who will develop skills to excel in interpersonal, diagnostic, and clinical settings. The medical rotation will involve both clinical and research components, providing candidates with a unique opportunity to work with a leading expert in the field of cosmetic and laser surgery. The one-year fellowship program will train candidates under the guidance of Dr. Rokhsar, a board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologist, along with the help of his highly knowledgable staff. Candidates are expected to become engaged in intensive learning and hands-on experience, ultimately developing extensive exposure to state of the art technology in both cosmetic and laser surgery.
