Kybella Injections in New York

Melt Chin Fat Without Surgery

Kybella injections in NYC reduce submental fullness, the stubborn fat beneath the chin that can persist despite diet and exercise. Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, an FDA-approved ingredient that breaks down fat cell membranes. Treated fat cells can no longer store fat, creating a slimmer chin contour.

Treatment is performed in our Manhattan office and takes 10–20 minutes. Dr. Rokhsar numbs the area, then places small injections beneath the chin based on your anatomy. Most patients need one to four sessions, commonly spaced about two months apart, to reach their desired result.

There are no incisions, general anesthesia, or surgical scars. You can return to normal activities after treatment, although swelling is expected. Kybella works best for localized chin fat. Significant loose skin or larger fat deposits may call for another treatment.

Why Patients Trust Dr Rokhsar’s Experience and Care

Dr. Cameron Rokhsar is double board-certified in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery and fellowship-trained in laser and dermatologic surgery. A Harvard College and NYU School of Medicine graduate, he serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital. There, he teaches cosmetic dermatology.

Our practice was a Kybella clinical study site before FDA approval. Dr. Rokhsar was also among the first physicians selected to offer Kybella in New York and has more than a decade of experience with these injections.

Dr. Rokhsar has served as a physician trainer for Allergan and taught other doctors injection techniques. For Kybella in Manhattan, careful patient selection and precise placement matter because the treatment area contains nerves, muscles, and salivary structures.

His experience also includes off-label Kybella treatment for selected small fat pockets and lipomas. These uses are not FDA-approved. During consultation, Dr. Rokhsar can compare Kybella with chin liposuction, CoolSculpting, or skin-tightening treatments when another option fits your anatomy better.

How Long Does Kybella Injections Last?

Most patients begin to see less chin fat within four to six weeks. The change develops gradually as the body clears treated fat cells, making the jawline and neck look slimmer and more defined.

Results continue developing for about two months after each session. Some patients improve after one treatment, while others need several sessions based on the amount of submental fat and desired contour.

Fat cells destroyed by Kybella do not return. Remaining fat cells can still enlarge with weight gain, so a stable weight helps preserve your result. Kybella is not a skin-tightening treatment.

Kybella Injections Downtime or Side Effects

Swelling is the most common reaction after Kybella injections and can be noticeable for several days. Redness, bruising, tenderness, numbness, or firmness under the chin can also occur while the treated area heals. Swelling can be more pronounced during the first few days.

Most patients can work and continue routine activities after treatment, but visible swelling may affect social plans. Numbness or firmness can last longer than swelling, sometimes for several weeks. These effects are temporary.

Kybella does not require incisions or general anesthesia, but it is a prescription injectable with medical risks. Rare complications include nerve injury causing an uneven smile, trouble swallowing, skin ulceration, and infection.

New York Kybella Injections FAQs

How do Kybella injections work?
Kybella contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, a molecule related to a bile acid your body uses to process dietary fat. When injected into submental fat, it disrupts fat cell membranes. The body then clears the damaged cells over time, producing a gradual reduction in double chin fullness.
Most of our patients need one to four Kybella sessions, with treatments commonly spaced about two months apart. The number depends on the amount and location of chin fat, your anatomy, and your goals. Dr. Rokhsar reassesses your response before recommending another session.
Kybella is the only fat-dissolving injectable FDA-approved in the United States for reducing submental fat in adults. Aqualyx is not FDA-approved in the United States. Patients searching for Aqualyx in NYC should discuss approved options, product safety, and whether Kybella fits their anatomy with a qualified physician.
Neither treatment is best for everyone. Kybella avoids incisions and general anesthesia but develops gradually and may require several sessions. Chin liposuction removes more fat in one procedure and can give a faster change, but it involves surgical recovery. Your anatomy and skin laxity help determine the better choice.
Kybella is FDA-approved only for moderate to severe submental fat in adults. Dr. Rokhsar has experience using deoxycholic acid off-label for selected small fat pockets and lipomas, but safety and effectiveness outside the submental area are not established by the FDA. Each area requires individual medical assessment.
