Stretch Mark Removal

Stretch mark removal in NYC can improve red, purple, white, silver, and indented stretch marks caused by pregnancy, puberty, rapid weight change, muscle growth, or steroid use. Also called striae, stretch marks develop when rapid stretching disrupts collagen and elastin within the dermis, leaving visible lines that can change color and texture with time.
At New York Cosmetic, Skin & Laser Surgery Center in Manhattan, Dr. Rokhsar selects laser treatment for stretch marks based on their color, age, depth, location, and your skin type. Vbeam pulsed dye laser targets redness in newer red or purple marks. Fraxel Restore Dual is commonly used for older white, silver, or indented stretch marks that need collagen remodeling.
Before Fraxel laser stretch marks treatment, we apply prescription-strength numbing cream for 30 to 60 minutes. Dr. Rokhsar then delivers fractional laser energy through the affected skin, creating microscopic treatment zones while surrounding tissue remains intact. The healing response builds new collagen and gradually improves thickness, texture, and how well the stretch marks blend with nearby skin.

Dr. Cameron Rokhsar, MD, FAAD, FAACS, is double board-certified in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery. He is also a fellowship-trained laser and MOHS surgeon with more than 20 years of experience treating scars, stretch marks, pigmentation, and other conditions with laser technology.
Dr. Rokhsar graduated from Harvard College and NYU School of Medicine, completed dermatology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and received laser surgery fellowship training under Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick. He serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he teaches dermatology residents.
Dr. Rokhsar was involved in the development of Fraxel technology and later taught Fraxel techniques and treatment protocols to physicians in the United States and internationally. With Fraxel for stretch marks, treatment depth, energy, coverage, and spacing matter. He adjusts these variables to the type and severity of each patient’s stretch marks rather than relying on one setting for every case.</p
Good candidates for laser stretch mark removal NYC treatment have realistic goals and stretch marks on areas such as the abdomen, breasts, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, or legs. At our Quad A accredited Manhattan clinic near the Upper East Side, Dr. Rokhsar treats patients with many skin tones using settings selected for skin color, mark type, and healing history.

Stretch mark removal before and after results vary because no current treatment can erase every stretch mark completely. With the right laser plan, patients may see smoother texture, reduced redness, thicker-looking skin, and marks that blend better with surrounding skin. In Dr. Rokhsar’s experience, Fraxel patients can see approximately 50% to 90% improvement.
Results from laser stretch mark removal develop gradually as new collagen forms. Many patients undergo three to six treatments, often about one month apart. Fresh red or purple marks may respond faster to Vbeam because it targets their vascular color. Older white or indented marks usually need repeated Fraxel sessions to improve texture and stimulate dermal collagen.
Improvement can remain for years after collagen remodeling, but stretch mark reduction does not prevent new marks from developing. Pregnancy, rapid weight gain or loss, bodybuilding, growth spurts, and steroid exposure can stretch the skin again. New stretch marks may appear beside previously treated areas even when earlier marks continue to look better.
Downtime after Fraxel laser for stretch marks is usually manageable. Fraxel Restore Dual can cause temporary redness, warmth, swelling, and a rough or sandpaper-like texture. Treated skin may look pink and begin flaking over several days. Larger body areas can remain dry or peel for one to two weeks as the skin recovers.
Vbeam stretch mark laser treatment may cause redness, swelling, tenderness, or temporary purple discoloration when treating red stretch marks. These effects fade as the treated vessels settle. Many patients continue work and routine activities, although we advise protecting the area from friction, excess heat, and unnecessary sun exposure during early healing.
Laser side effects are uncommon in experienced medical hands, but pigment changes, prolonged redness, blistering, infection, or scarring can occur. Skin color and treatment settings can affect these risks. Dr. Rokhsar personally evaluates the stretch marks and adjusts laser choice, energy, treatment depth, and spacing based on your skin type, location, previous treatments, and healing history.
