An exciting, no downtime, procedure to tighten the skin of the face and neck without surgery. ThermaLift™ is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure developed by the first doctor in the world to use ThermaCool for cosmetic purposes.
ThermaCool is an advanced high technology medical device, product of extensive research by Thermage, Inc. This device which uses radiofrequency allows Dr. Rokhsar to treat patients by delivering deep intense heat into the skin without injury to the epidermis.
Essentially a deep, intense, uniform, sustained heat in the tissue underneath the surface of the skin will produce contraction and tightening of excessively flaccid or lax skin. Therefore, the ThermaLift provides the heat required in performing such a task.
Although there is no ideal age, the younger the better. As soon as early skin sagging is first noticed by the patient, Thermage can be used.
For many patients one treatment will suffice. Repeat treatments may be needed for others. Deciding when and if you’ll be able to have additional treatments will be up to Dr. Rokhsar. Technically a second treatment can be done after one month, although, but since results will take four to six months to show, it is a good idea to wait for the effect of the first treatment. In some cases of extreme skin laxity, Dr. Rokhsar may advise multiple treatments from the start.
Exactly how long the treatment may last is unknown at the moment, although, they are long lasting. But because the aging process continues, skin laxity will naturally increase again with time. However, there is no “Cinderella effect” in which the results from the treatment will disappear suddenly one day.
Tightening skin in certain key areas can be advantageous for cosmetic improvement, for example: treating the skin of the forehead can lift the eyebrows and enhance the appearance of the eyes, making the eyes look more open, less tired, more alert. Previously, this result could only be obtained with major surgery.
Other areas of the face such as the skin of the cheeks can also be treated to reduce the flaccidity, which produces deep folds with aging. This results are similar to those of a surgical face-lift but are gradual and do not require post-operative care since there is no wound involved.
The ThermaLift session lasts half an hour in most cases, after topical numbing cream is applied. There is usually no post-operative care, no swelling, no redness, and no pain afterwards. The patient can return immediately to normal activities and it will not show that anything was done.
Only one ThermaLift treatment is generally required to achieve visible skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. However, the number of treatments required may vary depending on the desired results and the evaluation of an individual’s skin by a board certified dermatologist. Repeat treatments may be recommended in some cases to achieve optimal results. It is also noted that the length of time required for the ThermaLift procedure depends on the size of the treatment area, with most sessions taking 30 to 60 minutes.
The duration of results after a ThermaLift procedure may vary from person to person, but in most cases, the results appear gradually within 2 to 6 months. Some patients may see an earlier response. The longevity of the results also depends on the aging process and the patient’s skincare routine. The results of a ThermaLift treatment typically last for at least six months and can even last for a year or two in some cases after a few treatments. Additionally, a recent publication cited by suggests that the effects of the ThermaLift procedure may last longer than two years, although this may vary among individuals.
ThermaLift is a type of radiofrequency skin tightening treatment, specifically the ThermaCool TC (TM) system by Thermage, that stimulates collagen production to tighten the skin. The duration of the results of other types of radiofrequency treatment may differ from those of ThermaLift, as some treatments may require multiple sessions to see results. A more effective way to tighten the skin through radiofrequency is by using the Thermitight procedure. Similar to Thermalift, Thermitight uses radiofrequency energy for maximal skin tightening. Thermitight works better because the energy is delivered more efficiently under the skin. Dr. Rokhsar is an expert in non surgical skin tightening procedures and can recommend the procedure which suits best to your particular needs.
