The Difference Between CoolSculpting and Liposonix

Non-invasive body contouring has become the fat reduction forefront of cosmetic surgery procedures. CoolSculpting and LipoSonix are just two examples of effective non-surgical techniques that allow patients to return to their normal daily activities immediately afterwards. Stubborn fat can persist in unflattering pouches along the body.  For those that are just looking for a mild reduction in parts of the body such as the arms, stomach, thighs, and bra line back fat; non-invasive procedures are a great option. Dr. Rokhsar can manipulate fat cells through the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue or skin’s surface.

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive body contouring technique that utilizes the fat cells’ susceptibility to cold temperatures. It works by administering extreme cold temperatures through cooling plates that suction the targeted area for an hour, during which time fat cells are turned from a soft to solid form. During the procedure the patient is numbed with a topical cream and will only experience some cooling, if any at all.

LipoSonix uses high-intensity focused ultrasound energy to permanently destroy fat beneath the deepest layer of skin, the dermis. A single 30 to 60 minute session is all it takes, and results will continue to develop over eight to twelve weeks post procedure.

These body contouring and sculpting approaches require no down time for the patient, and instead provide continuing and improving results as the fat is naturally digested through the body. Although both procedures are not solutions for those that are overweight or obese, it can aid in the weight loss process along with diet and exercise, encouraging a new and healthier lifestyle.

Dr. Cameron Rokhsar is the first physician in the United States to use LipoSonix. He is the leading authority on laser surgery and non-invasive fat reduction. He is a fellowship-trained cosmetic and skin laser surgeon with offices located in New York City and Garden City, Long Island.
