What Is Jeuveau?

Newtox (better known as Jeuveau), is a purified form of botulinum toxin that helps improve the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles in adult patients. Newtox in NYC and Long Island works by blocking the contact between the nerve and its target muscle. By relaxing the muscles, the FDA-approved2 injectable treatment offers temporary prevention and control of fines lines on the face.

Jeuveau/Newtox Treatment Areas

Newtox can be used to treat a variety of different areas, including all the areas treated with Botox. However, the injectable is most commonly administered to reduce the appearance of:

  • Glabella lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Neck bands
  • Masseter muscle

Results and Recovery

Newtox (Jeuveau) in Long Island starts working in just 1 to 3 days and results last anywhere between 2 to 4 months depending on the area you are treating and the condition of your skin. The procedure takes a matter of minutes to perform. Moreover, you will feel virtually no pain or discomfort. Dr. Rokhsar uses the smallest needles possible, meaning you will likely feel the same sensations as you would during an acupuncture session. With Newtox there is no social downtime. While there are chances you may experience a small amount of bruising, most patients do not feel anything within minutes of receiving the injections.

Jeuveau Injections FAQ

What is Jeuveau used for?

Jeuveau is an injectable neuromodulator used for the temporary improvement of frown lines, specifically the moderate to severe glabellar lines between the eyebrows. It can also be used to treat crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes), forehead lines, bunny lines (nose wrinkles), platysma bands (neck wrinkles) as well as upper and lower lip lines. It is injected into muscles and helps relax or paralyze the nerves that signal the muscles to flex, preventing new lines from forming and softening existing ones. Jeuveau is an injectable medication that hit the market in 2019 and is marketed as “Newtox.” It is similar to Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, and should only be administered by a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. The effects of Jeuveau last for a few months and treatment can be repeated as necessary.

Where can Jeuveau be injected?

Jeuveau can be injected into muscles which creates wrinkles. It is used in adults to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). It can also be used to treat many other areas of the face in need of anti-aging including eye wrinkles (crow’s feet), nose wrinkles (bunny lines), forehead wrinkles, neck wrinkles (platysma muscle of the neck), upper and lower lip wrinkles among many other areas. Jeuveau is injected into the affected muscles (intramuscularly) and is supplied in a single-dose 100 Unit vial.

How long does Jeuveau last?

The duration of Jeuveau’s effects can vary from person to person, but it typically lasts around three to four months. Some patients may notice results sooner, while others may see them later. The longevity of the treatment can also depend on the dose administered, with higher doses potentially lasting longer, up to a point. The effects of Jeuveau are temporary, and after repeat injections, it may take less and less time before the symptoms return, especially if the body develops antibodies to the botulinum toxin. Patients with a high metabolism (athletic people who do high-intensity workouts) may metabolize it much faster leading to shorter duration times.

How long does Jeuveau take to work?

Jeuveau typically takes around two to three days to start working. However, for some people, it may take up to seven days to see noticeable results. Results are at their best in about two weeks. Jeuveau injections should be spaced at least three months apart.

Which lasts longer: Botox or Jeuveau?

Both Botox and Jeuveau are FDA-approved injectables that effectively treat facial wrinkles and lines caused by muscle movements. The duration of effectiveness for both Botox and Jeuveau is approximately 3 to 4 months, but this can vary from person to person.

The longevity of either treatment may depend on the individual’s metabolism and the area being treated. For instance, some patients may find that Jeuveau lasts longer than Botox, while others may experience the opposite. However, several studies have shown that Jeuveau may provide longer-lasting results than Botox. Dr. Rokhsar believes that Botox and Jeaveau last about the same amount of time.

The onset of action and potency of both injectables may also differ among patients. Some clinicians have found that Jeuveau may be more potent than Botox, while others have reported similar efficacy between the two treatments.
