Your skin stretches as you age, and the face is no exception tot his rule. As you develop excess skin, this can cause an imbalance between the volume of your skin and the surface area, leading to wrinkles, folds, and other issues. Among the most popular ways to combat this imbalance is through the use of the popular dermal filler known as Restylane. A hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, Restylane is commonly used to address laugh lines, increase the size of lips, or mitigate sagging around the corners of the lips. Suffice it to say, Restylane is an incredibly versatile facial rejuvenation tool, and Dr. Rokhsar’s New York Restylane patients are thrilled to see their results.
Am I a Good Candidate for Restylane Injections?
As with many dermal filler injections, the ideal candidates for Restylane injections are looking for a rejuvenated look but aren’t a good fit for or aren’t interested in surgical procedures. You might be a good candidate for Restylane if you meet some of the following criteria:
- You want to appear more youthful
- You are not a good candidate or not interested in facial surgery
- You want immediate results without the need for painful recovery
- Your wrinkles and lines are caused by a loss of volume
- You have realistic expectations about what Restylane injections can accomplish
- You want to increase the size of your lips
- You are comfortable with temporary results
During your consultation with Dr. Roksar, you will discuss your desired final results as well as how Restylane can work for you.
Restylane Results and Recovery
Most Restylane procedures can be accomplished in as little as fifteen to thirty minutes and with just a few injections. Most patients do not describe the injection as “painful” but rather as more like an uncomfortable pinch. That said, the procedure is over quickly and patients can be given topical numbing agents when necessary. Because Restylane is incredibly smooth for a dermal filler, it is often used to treat those wrinkles that are closest to the top of the skin and to make other cosmetic alterations (such as increasing the size of the nose). Once the procedure is complete, you may be advised to avoid strenuous activity for a day or two to give the filler time to “set.”
Restylane is a temporary filler, but results should last anywhere between twelve and eighteen months. The most common side effects are bruising and redness, which generally subside within a week or so. What is Restylane best used for?
Restylane is best used to restore facial contours, smooth wrinkles and soften facial lines. Restylane is also highly effective when enhancing features such as your lips, cheeks and eyes by adding fullness and definition for a more youthful appearance.
How long do Restylane treatment results last?
Immediate results are achieved after injection with restored volume. Patients treated with Restylane have experienced results lasting 9 to 18 months when they underwent two follow-up treatments. Those who treated their lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth, also known as nasolabial lines, maintained results up for up to three years.
