What is ThermiTight?

New York patients seeking a substantial reduction of age lines that are generally yielded by other non-surgical techniques can be candidates for ThermiTight. The first procedure of its kind, ThermiTight delivers controlled thermal energy just under the skin to repair age lines without surgery. Because of the gentle nature of this procedure, it is typically suited for treating many areas of the body including the face, neck, upper arms, abdomen, and thighs.

How Does It Work?

ThermiTight, or thermistor-controlled subdermal skin tightening, utilizes the ThermiRF system and a tiny thermistor probe called a SmartTip. After the target area has been numbed, the probe is inserted beneath the skin to heat subdermal tissues to temperatures specified by Dr. Rokhsar. During the procedure, patient’s temperatures are monitored internally by the system’s computer and externally via Thermal Image Guidance, a real-time visual display of skin temperature fed by a thermal camera.

The precise heating of the subdermal layer causes quick dissolving of fat deposits and tightening of the collagen that controls skin elasticity. ThermiTight is a non-surgical skin tightening for surface skin, providing a quick reduction in age lines and smoother, more youthful skin. Initial results will be visible after treatment. Patients observe further improvement in skin looseness over the first few months following ThermiTight.

Is There Any Downtime Associated with ThermiTight?

New York ThermiTight patients will be pleased to know that the procedure can be performed with only local anesthesia of the target area(s) in under an hour. Although patients may experience mild redness and swelling, most are able to return to normal activity after a day and require only over-the-counter pain medication if any.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect and How Long Will They Last?

While every patient is unique and individual results may vary, most patients experience dramatic improvements in skin laxity and the appearance of age lines after the first treatment. As compared to other non-surgical treatments for signs of aging, New York ThermiTight patients continue to experience improvement in appearance for months after their procedure.

ThermiTight results can last for several years. By contrast, Botox® and filler injections generally must be repeated every few months to maintain results.

ThermiTight Skin Tightening FAQ

What is radio frequency skin tightening?

Radio frequency skin tightening is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses radio frequency energy to heat the skin tissue and stimulate collagen and elastin production in order to reduce fine lines and loose skin. This procedure is a safe and effective anti-aging therapy for various parts of the body, including the face, neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, knees, and buttocks.

The radio frequency therapy involves the use of energy waves to heat the deep layer of the skin, inducing tissue remodeling, and production of new collagen and elastin. During the procedure, Dr. Rokhsar moves a handheld radio frequency electrode probe under the skin of the treatment area after proper numbing. The procedure is painless after proper numbing, The result is a dramatic reduction in the appearance of fine loose skin and increase on the tightness of the skin on any body area.

Radio frequency skin tightening is an outpatient procedure that takes approximately 1-4 hours, depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients may see some visible improvements immediately, with optimal results up to 12 weeks following the treatment. This treatment can provide an alternative to facelift and other cosmetic surgeries.

The term “radio frequency” refers to the thermal energy delivered to the skin by a device with the intention of causing micro-injuries, which trigger the creation of new collagen. The heat of the device also causes immediate skin contraction and tightening. The procedure also causes apoptosis of fat cells, leading to a reduction in the fat layer in the treated area if that is desired in addition to skin tightening. RF skin tightening employs different technologies; the most effective skin tightening procedure with radio frequency is the thermitight procedure. The thermitight procedure is more effective than the facetight or bodytight procedures, because the temperatures are continuously monitored by an advanced infrared camera to achieve the best results with utmost safety. It is also monopolar making it more effective and less cumbersome to perform compared to facetight or bodytight procedures.

Radio frequency skin tightening is a safe and effective non-surgical treatment that utilizes radio frequency energy to heat the skin tissue and stimulate collagen and elastin production, leading to a reduction in wrinkles and loose skin. This procedure can be performed on various parts of the body, providing an alternative to facelift and other cosmetic surgeries. Patients may see immediate results with optimal outcomes up to 12 weeks following the treatment.

How does radio frequency skin tightening work?

The radio frequency energy creates controlled “injuries” beneath the skin, which triggers a natural tissue repair and clotting response. This leads to the formation of new collagen, which helps tighten and firm the skin. The procedure can be used on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, arms, knees, thighs and abdomen but any body surface area can be treated to achieve tighter skin.

During the procedure, a device that generates electromagnetic energy is used to heat up the targeted areas. The heat generated by the radio waves is typically around 450 kilohertz and can raise the temperature of the skin’s deeper layers to between 122 and 167 °F (50-75°C). The high energy delivered by the radiofrequency current gently heats the skin and causes it to contract, leaving the skin looking tighter and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Radio frequency skin tightening for the face is a non-surgical facelift that can produce results similar to those of a surgical min-facelift when performed by an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and surgeon like Dr. Rokhsar. With the Thermitight procedure, dramatic results in skin tightening are achieved within one session. However, wearing a post-procedure compression garment is advised for 48 hours to decrease swelling. It’s important to follow Dr. Rokhsar’s preop and postop instructions carefully to maximize the results with the radiofrequency thermitight procedure for skin tightening.

Radio frequency skin tightening works by stimulating collagen production through controlled heating of the skin’s deeper layers using radio waves. IT also cause immediate contraction of the skin through controlled heating of collagen which shrinks in response to heat placed in the right layer of the skin The gold standard for radiofrequency skin tightening is the thermitight procedure, where after appropriate numbing, a probe is inserted under the skin in the targeted areas and radiofrequency heat is delivered to tighten the skin. The thermitight procedure is minimally invasive, produces more dramatic results as compared to other radiofrequency skin tightening procedures, and can achieve similar results to a surgical facelift, when performed by an experienced doctor. Thermitight radiofrequency skin tightening can be performed on various areas of the body to achieve dramatic non surgical skin tightening.

How long does radio frequency skin tightening last?

Radio frequency skin tightening is a popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure used to promote skin rejuvenation by using radiofrequency energy to heat the deep layer of the skin to achieve skin tightening, firmness of skin and reduce wrinkles. If you’re considering this treatment, you might be wondering how long the results last.

The duration of radio frequency skin tightening results can vary based on the device used and the experience of the physician using the device. In general, devices that heat up the skin from inside out like the Thermitight procedure, work much better than devices that heat up the skin from above the surface of the skin, like Thermage, Exilis or Morpheus 8. Results can last up to 3-5 years with the Thermitight procedure. With other radiofrequency skin tightening procedures, like Exilis, Thermage, or Morpheus 8, the results are subtle at best, and only last up to one year. However, radio frequency skin tightening results are not permanent and require maintenance treatments as skin continues to become looser with aging and sun damage.

Overall, the duration of radio frequency skin tightening results can vary depending on various factors, including the skill of the surgeon, if performed at a doctors office vs a med spa, the specific device used. If injectable RF is used vs transcutaneous RF, age of patient, baseline skin looseness or laxity of skin, good long term skincare, maintenance of a healthy lifestyle, the frequency of treatments, and the number of sessions over time. It is best to consult with Dr. Rokhsar who can recommend the best treatment plan for your specific needs. Dr. Rokhsar is a firm believer that the Thermitight procedure delivers better long dramatic lasting results compared to all other radiofrequency skin tightening procedures like Thermage, Exilis and Morpheus 8.

What is the best skin tightening procedure?

There are several skin tightening procedures available, and the best one for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. Some procedures are noninvasive, while others require surgery and downtime. Here are some of the top options:

  • ThermiTight: This noninvasive procedure uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin for an overall younger-looking appearance and tighter. This is by far the most effective non surgical skin tightening procedure available and can come close to surgery results without any cutting or scars and minimal downtime. It uses injectable radiofrequency to heat up the skin from inside out resulting in dramatic skin tightening anywhere on the body. It is the safest procedure as it uses an advanced infrared camera to continuously monitor the temperature at the surface of the skin minimizing the chance of a skin burn. This procedure is far superior to all other procedures, including Thermage, Exilis, Morpheus9, Facetight, and Bodytight.
  • Topical creams: Retinoic acid is a powerful ingredient in skin tightening creams and has scientific backing but don’t expect anything except extremely subtle results.
  • Ultherapy: This noninvasive procedure uses ultrasound to create thermal heat under the surface of the skin, which tightens and lifts the skin. The results last one to two years. Its the best procedure to use on younger patients less than 60 years of age with mild skin laxity.
  • Laser resurfacing: This is the most effective procedure for wrinkles. It does cause some tightening of loose skin, but requires downtime of 5-7 days with the CO2 laser. Laser resurfacing also improves texture, pigmentation and wrinkles besides skin tightening, something that radiofrequency devices can not do.
  • Laser skin tightening: This minimally invasive procedure heats the skin and causes collagen to constrict, making the skin appear tighter, more firm, and less creepy.
  • Submental liposuction: This surgical procedure involves making tiny entry points and sliding a liposuction cannula along the jawline to chisel it out in a precise and predictable way. This procedure works great for patients who also have some fat in addition to loose skin.
