Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, naturally forming a scaffold of strength and structure to hold the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons together. Most of our skin is made up of collagen, and as people age the elastin and collagen fibers — which provide elasticity — become thicker and more clumped, resulting in inelastic, droopy, and brittle skin.
