Why You Shouldn’t Pop Your Pimples

posted in Acne

Pimples are one of the components of acne, which comes in forms of blackheads, whiteheads, tender red bumps, and large red nodules. The pimple can take all different forms and may seem like a good idea at the time to squeeze the white or blackhead out of its bumpy little casing just beneath the skin. But be aware, popping a pimple doesn’t actually make it go away, and although it may provide some temporary pleasure and release endorphins, you should resist at all costs. Scars and infections are frequent consequences of popping a pimple.

It’s bad enough if you have to deal with chronic acne, and if you’re lucky, the occasional bad-timing pimple; but having a scar is not something you want to live with. Family history may make you predisposed to acne, even hormones and stress can play a large part in the tiny zits role of ruining your day.

The face doesn’t respond well to the two-finger pimple popping treatment. Dermatologists frown upon pimple popping because, besides scarring, it can actually stimulate another breakout. Your nails could tear the skin, or beneath the nail you could be carrying bacteria and transfer it into the opening of the pimple. Dermatologists will treat acne in a sterile and safe manner, whether it be with light therapy or aesthetician services such as extractions through facials, it’s important to rely on a professional when treating acne.

However, there are some things you can do at home, such as purchasing a comedone extractor, which dermatologists use to remove whiteheads and blackheads. Pore strips are also an effective treatment to unclog pores in a simple, fast, and safe way. Otherwise you could be pushing the blocked bacteria deeper into the skin and causing, not only an infection, but creating inflammation and unwanted redness.
