How to Get in Shape for Summer?

Life is hectic. Between busy schedules and summer-time goals, oftentimes it may seem difficult to balance the work and play time while staying in shape. Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Heart Association recommend to incorporate at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity into your schedule. You also can do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of each and every week. Each and every week? That’s hard! The reason why all the models both men and women try to embody are in such pristine, top-notch shape, is because that’s what they get paid to do! They don’t typically have to sit at a desk all day for work, taking care of children, performing household chores, general upkeep or any of the other many things the average person has to attend to day-in and day-out. It isn’t to suggest you should give up on exercise and a healthy routine and diet completely just because you’re not getting the results you want. It’s still important to get your daily exercise, or at least as much as your individual lifestyle allows. However, even with exercise and a healthy diet, stubborn fat pouches can remain, causing frustration and a self-conscious body image.

Many believe liposuction, the most common cosmetic operation in the United States to address unwanted fat, is the only way. While under anesthesia, fat is extracted through small incisions using a suction pump. Busy schedules may not permit the inconvenience of recovery time. Although non-invasive options aren’t a replacement for liposuction, there are two promising new procedures for treating unwanted fat, allowing patients to see fast results with minimal downtime.

Liposonix is a non-surgical alternative for those who would like a modest reduction in exercise resistant fat with minimal recovery time. The ultrasound creates a powerful thermal effect that focuses at specific depths in fatty layers, safely destroying fat without damaging surrounding tissue in a one-hour session.”

This minimal risk procedure uses a high intensity focused ultrasound to destroy targeted fat in the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, buttocks and arms, which show results within 8- to 12 weeks.

CoolSculpting, also known as Zeltiq, is another effective non-invasive, FDA approved procedure that uses a unique technique for destroying unwanted fat. A procedure developed at Wellman Laser Laboratories at Harvard Medical School is based on research that has shown fat cells are more vulnerable to cold temperature than any other surrounding tissue. Extreme cold temperatures are emitted through cooling plates that suction the targeted area for an hour, during which time fat cells are turned from a soft to solid form. Literally freezing fat cells through prolonged controlled cooling, allows the body to naturally metabolize frozen fat out of the body. Results begin to show in three weeks with progressive improvements within four months post-treatment.

Doctors in the United States look forward to the FDA’s approval of Ultrashape, another fat reduction procedure that utilizes ultrasound. Widely used in 47 other countries, Ultrashape uses pulsed acoustic waves to target fat areas without disrupting surrounding tissue. This hour-long procedure applies confined volume frequencies to separate and suspend fat into a fluid between cells.

There are plenty of options for you to choose from, and all feasible for a rather inflexible schedule! Don’t give up on your ideal body this summer!
